The Organization
Engineering Trends specializes in studies and analyses in the field of engineering education. Our principal strengths lie in understanding the specific types of statistical data necessary for decision-making, experience in engineering education and credible, proven predictions of future degree trends. We have compiled our databases to support efficiently and effectively analyses of a wide variety of quantitative issues in engineering education.

Credibility is our hallmark and it is as important to us as it is to those who seek information from us.

Technical Direction
Technical direction of Engineering Trends is the responsibility of Dr. Richard W. Heckel. He has held faculty appointments at Drexel University, Carnegie Mellon University and Michigan Technological University. For several decades he has carried out analyses using published survey data on engineering education.

Operations
Our mode of operation follows generally the format of an e-commerce organization. Contacts via e-mail and this Web site are preferred to allow for rapid responses. However, communications via telephone serve us well for both initial and follow-up discussions. Reports and graph sets are transmitted as e-mail attachments, but we will send copies via postal mail if requested.

Studies and analyses range in magnitude from large-scale projects down to providing limited sets of data in the form of spreadsheets. Work is typically preceded by a formal, no-cost proposal containing a price quotation and a delivery date.

Delivery times seldom exceed two weeks after proposal acceptance is confirmed via a purchase order. Smaller projects are initiated via informal agreement, thereby avoiding bureaucratic tanglements.

We answer short questions directed to us via e-mail or telephone on a "good will" basis. This service extends to the preparation of data tables that are sent out in a day or two after an initial contact. These pro bono services are important in providing us with communications on a range of issues of current importance.

Annual members of Engineering Trends have full access to all information on this Web site and have additional benefits as well. For membership details, click here. Non-members do not have complete access to all Web site pages, but may purchase individual reports from the Report Library.

Quarterly Newsletters
Engineering Trends newsletters are distributed quarterly via e-mail and are sent to both members and non-members. The newsletters contain brief descriptions of new reports appearing on the Web site (Report Library) and information on studies that will lead to future reports.
