This section of the Engineering Trends Web site contains graphs of engineering degrees awarded since AY 1945-46. The graphs contain data compiled from the annual surveys of US universities by the US Department of Education (DoEd), the Engineering Workforce Commission (EWC) of the American Association of Engineering Societies (AAES) and the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). In rare instances where errors were observed in individual university data during compiling, the data were corrected by Engineering Trends, if possible, or were deleted if large enough to influence significantly the US totals presented in the graphs.

Graphs for engineering, as a whole, include total numbers of bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. In addition, separate graphs are included for undergraduate and graduate degrees awarded to men, women, underrepresented minority groups and foreign nationals.

Graphs are also included for twenty-one engineering disciplines (aerospace engineering, agricultural engineering, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science (in universities with engineering programs), computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, engineering management, manufacturing engineering, marine engineering, mining, geological and mineral engineering, materials science and engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, petroleum engineering and systems engineering). These graphs contain data for bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree totals and degrees awarded to women and foreign nationals. Data do not extend back to AY 1945-46 in all instances.
